The brief
The first image shows the softer reading-corner side of the project: a beautifully bright space with fitted bookcases, low-level storage, display shelving and oak acoustic panels used to soften the area between the bookshelves and the window.
The wider project also included a bar area designed to store glasses and bottles both in sight and hidden away. An antique mirror backdrop, recessed dimmable LED lighting, solid oak shelves and an oak bottle rack were all used to create a high-end finish.
How the project came together
What makes this type of work successful is the level of integration. The furniture has not been treated as separate pieces placed against a wall; it has been designed as one complete feature, with storage, display, lighting and seating all working together.
The oak tones bring warmth to the room, while the darker fitted cabinetry gives the space a smart, tailored feel. The glazing and natural light stop the darker finishes from feeling heavy, creating a balanced and comfortable room.
