The brief
The finished fireplace keeps a traditional sense of proportion, with a pale surround framing the darker inner chamber and black hearth. This contrast works particularly well with the Tall Tinderbox stove, allowing the appliance to sit confidently within the opening while drawing the eye towards the large glass window and vertical flame view.
The Tall Tinderbox is a dedicated wood burning stove with a taller body design, making it ideal for customers who want the visual impact of a larger flame window without necessarily increasing the heat output beyond what the room requires. Its Ecodesign credentials and efficient combustion performance make it a sensible modern replacement for an older gas appliance.
How the project came together
Replacing a dated appliance with a wood burning stove can completely change the atmosphere of a room. Here, the installation gives the fireplace a stronger focal point, a more natural sense of warmth, and a finish that feels both classic and current.
The simplicity of the surrounding materials is important. Rather than overcomplicating the fireplace, the project lets the stove do the work visually: pale surround, dark recess, black hearth, clean stove silhouette and the movement of the real flame.
