Rather than covering the original materials, the project highlights them. Cleaning and redressing the stonework allows the fireplace to retain its aged appearance while looking cared for and purposeful again.
How the project came together
The Ecoflame 2 multi fuel stove sits neatly within the restored opening. Its simple black body contrasts with the brick and stone, giving the fire a clear frame without overpowering the historic character of the fireplace.
This type of work requires a different approach to a new-build installation. The success comes from knowing what to preserve, what to repair and how to introduce a modern appliance without losing the soul of the original feature.
