The brief
The marble back panel was removed and the fireplace opened up without damaging the surround, preserving the character and value of the existing fireplace.
A new hearth was cut around the fireplace, allowing the updated installation to fit the retained marble properly.
How the project came together
A stainless steel flue liner was installed, and brick slips were used to line the chamber behind the stove.
The result is a careful blend of old and new: a modern stove fitted within an original marble surround.
