The brief
The fireplace itself already had a strong architectural presence, with a deep stone surround, aged hearth and textured brick chamber. Rather than trying to hide that character, the installation works with it, placing the stove centrally so the original materials remain an important part of the finished feature.
The Halo Radial is a modern wood burning stove known for its curved glass and softer, more contemporary form. In this setting, that shape creates an effective contrast against the rougher stone and brick textures, giving the fireplace a more updated feel without losing its traditional atmosphere.
How the project came together
The stove has been installed on the existing hearth with a vertical flue rising cleanly through the opening. This keeps the arrangement simple and practical while allowing the appliance to become the clear focal point within the large fireplace recess.
A rustic timber mantel above the stone lintel adds warmth and helps connect the fireplace to the rest of the room. The mirror and decorative styling above keep the overall look domestic and lived-in rather than overly staged.
Details worth noticing
This project is a useful reference for customers with older or larger fireplace openings who want to introduce a modern Ecodesign wood burning stove without stripping away the character of the property.
