Project at a glance

Replacement Stove | Wood Burning Stoves | Planned, supplied, and installed by Fires in Stone.

The brief

The Herald 14 is a substantial appliance designed for larger fireplace openings and bigger living spaces where a smaller stove would struggle visually or thermally. Its wide double-door design gives the installation a strong traditional presence while allowing a broad view of the fire itself.

The original fireplace already had scale and character, so the replacement stove needed to feel proportionate within the opening. The Herald 14 achieves that comfortably, filling the chamber properly and giving the room a more balanced appearance overall.

How the project came together

Replacing an older stove is often about more than heat output alone. Modern Ecodesign appliances burn more cleanly, offer improved controllability and create a far more refined flame picture compared to many older-generation stoves.

The darker chamber and hearth materials help frame the fire visually, while the wider proportions of the appliance create a more dramatic focal point within the room.

Details worth noticing

The completed installation feels robust, warm and highly suited to larger family living spaces where the fireplace needs genuine presence rather than simply decorative value.
