The old cast and tiled insert was removed, opening up the fireplace without damaging the surround.
Keeping the original cast iron detail preserves the character of the room and avoids losing a valuable period feature.
How the project came together
The new stove installation brings the fireplace back into practical use with the warmth and atmosphere of a real fire.
The finished result blends restoration and improvement: the original feature remains, but the fireplace becomes far more usable.
